Why therapy?

Therapy is an investment in lifelong change. Research shows that the quality of our primary relationship with our romantic partner is one of the key determinants of life satisfaction, happiness, and even how long we live.  Therapy is an opportunity to prioritize the most important relationships in our lives.

While interventions such as medication act very quickly on the brain and the receptors in the brain, once you remove the medication you may not have those lasting changes.  The process of psychotherapy is costly and may take longer to take effect, but through cognitive re-patterning we can create new neural pathways in the brain. We create new habits around communication, love, thoughts, and behaviors for change that lasts.

We offer a free 20 minute phone consultation so that we can get to know each other, see if we are a fit, and answer any questions you may have. We also offer phone and secure video sessions for your convenience. Visit our FAQ page for more information about how therapy might benefit you.

Insurance

WE DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE. However, we can provide you with an invoice (also known as a "superbill") which you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Contact your insurer for specific details about your coverage and how to obtain reimbursement for your visits. Specifically, you can ask them what they reimburse for “out-of-network” providers. We recommend reading our blog post Do You Take Insurance? and also this helpful article which offer step-by-step guides to using out-of-network benefits.

There are many reasons that we do not contract directly with insurance companies. We believe that therapy is a relationship between the therapist and client. Contracting with a third party compromises your confidentiality. One way privacy is compromised is that insurance companies require a diagnoses of a mental health disorder.

Most of the clients that come to Root to Rise are individuals and couples looking to increase their relationship satisfaction and overall happiness. A mental health diagnoses is not always suitable for the clients that we see, especially couples, and diagnoses remain on your record which could impact the cost of your health insurance, disability insurance, and/or long-term care insurance.

We understand that everyone has different needs for their budget and are happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

Payments:

Payments are accepted by cash, check, Venmo, all major credit cards, HSA/FSA, and are due at the time of service.
