Couples Therapy and Marriage Counseling

Do you and your love feel stuck in the same conversational pattern over and over? Are trivial triggers spiraling into fights about core issues from the past? Does it feel like no matter what the topic, the conversation ends up the same way—in tears, frustration, and isolation?

Often when couples call us, they are having trouble communicating.

More frequently than not, rather than really listening to our partners, we are formulating our response while our partner is talking.

What happens then is that nobody feels heard, nobody feels acknowledged, nobody feels understood, and this wedge drives couples further and further away from the intimacy and secure attachment that we all crave so deeply and is available to all us.

Couples therapy provides couples—unmarried, pre-marital, and married—with an alternative to feeling helpless and confused in love. Frequent areas that couples therapy addresses include:

  • Improving communication skills

  • Intimacy and sex

  • Infidelity and Affairs

  • Finances

  • Pre-marital counseling

  • Family planning

  • Addiction and Codependency

  • Family-of-origin issues

In our sessions, we will:

  • Identify your patterns that lead to negative interaction loops

  • Learn and implement communication and active listening skills

  • Explore negative thought patterns and negative interpretations preventing you from fully connecting with your partner

  • Secure the attachment and deepen the foundation through the development of healthy love and secure functioning

  • Explore family-of-origin issues and how these affect the way we communicate and attach in our intimate relationships.

“The fact that you were able to help me when I had nowhere else to turn has made me realize how important it is to feel connected to others and a community. Offering help and asking for help— this is so important for creating meaning in life.”
