ABOUT Becky

Becky White
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Becky White, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is the Founder, Director, and CEO of Root To Rise Therapy, a boutique psychotherapy practice that provides individual therapy and couples counseling in Los Angeles.

Becky has been working in the mental health field with adults, couples, and families since 2011. She is passionate about being a therapist and regards it as a privilege. For as long as she can remember, friends, family, and acquaintances have gone to her to talk through their feelings. People tell her that they feel very comfortable talking with her; that they never feel judged, and they feel like they can tell her anything.

BECKY’S STYLE IS WARM, COMFORTING, DIRECT, SPONTANEOUS, AND STRAIGHTFORWARD.

She believes in being honest, truthful, kind and authentic in all her interactions. She tries to " walk the walk" and put the tools she teaches to her clients to work in her own daily life. She loves to read and write and has five half-finished books on her bedside table at all times, and a reading list so long and constantly growing that there's no chance she could actually complete it in this lifetime.

Becky is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#93760), Registered Yoga Teacher, EMDR Therapist, Certified Emotion Regulation Counselor, with extensive training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She has wanted to be therapist since she was 8 years old. She began voluntarily running Peer Support Groups at my high school in 9th grade, and by 12th grade she was the leader of the Peer Support Program. A native of Los Angeles, CA, she received her Bachelors in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology, Malibu Campus.

Becky utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Existential/Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, and Mindfulness orientations to help couples and individuals increase self-understanding and remove blocks to make decisions and take action with integrity and resolution. She specializes in individual therapy and couples counseling with a focus on helping people clear away inner obstacles to create and receive healthy relationships. Her passion is helping individuals and couple create relationships and lives that they love.

Becky did her internship training at the Veteran’s Hospital in West LA serving Veterans suffering from dual diagnoses Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression and mood disorders in addition to addiction and substance use disorders. She continued working in the fields of addiction and trauma at the Saban Community Clinic in Hollywood. At Saban, she served in an Integrated Clinic program funded by the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health. Becky ran the Child & Family Counseling Program and ran multiple therapy groups. Becky is also the recipient of two prestigious stipends through the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. Becky is an adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology. She also served on the board of LA-CAMFT (California Association of Marriage & Family Therapist, Los Angeles chapter) as the Recording Secretary.
